Stitches out!

I was told to book to have my stitches out 5 - 7 days after mu operation. This seemed incredibly soon but, as ever, I trusted the docs and booked for day 7. You could see the look of surprise on the nurse's face when she saw how many stitches she would need to remove. If it hadn't been for the nausea and pain it would have made me belly laugh; especially when she had to get another nurse to help so they could take turns to avoid getting bad backs from the position they had to stand in! Anyway, I know myself pretty well and knew that if I wasn't occupied I would dwell on what was happening and pass out. So, now that I could have short conversations with only pain level 5-6 (if 5 mins or 10 max) I decided to start chatting. As much as possible I asked open questions so they had to chat and I could listen, and this worked well. They were impressed not only by the neatness of the stitches, but my extraordinarily high pain threshold. It's funny, before this I am sure it wasn't. Perhaps it was caused by being in pain for such a long period of time i.e. since 2018... With regards the stitches, you might find it amusing to hear that my 11 year old daughter did not share their view and thought she could have done a better job herself! Love it!
While I was there I also asked if I could stop wearing the sexy DVT socks as I ad been hand washing and hair drying them each day and had had enough of them. They happily agreed. They also reminded me that I needed to rub vaseline into my scar for a while to help gently remove the scab and keep the skin soft.
